Homelessness, Community, Events, Search + Rescue
You can’t help but notice Seattle’s homeless population. The problem has gotten to the point where people are in danger of dying on the streets.
We don’t wait for those who are hungry and in need of help to come to us. Every day the Mission goes into homeless camps and under bridges with our Search + Rescue Vans.
The goal is to meet the physical needs of someone who is hungry and alone, but equally important is the relationship we form with them. Through the relationships we form, those on the streets can more easily accept our invitation to come off the streets and into recovery.
With every conversation we offer a “Summer Survival Kit” which includes things like …
- Bottled water
- Food
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
- Lightweight clothing
- Flip flops
- An invitation to our long term recovery programs

Ways to Give
This summer, every $9.84 you give will provide one Summer Survival Kit to our neighbors on the streets through Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission. Give Now.
